INSIGHTFARADAY LAUNCHES WITH PLANS FOR HIGH THROUGHPUT TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER
Director of InsightFaraday, Dr Steve Fletcher, based at core partner LGC, said: "We have made good progress since September and, so that we can maximise the number of market sectors reached, a number of technology translators have been appointed to identify appropriate cross-sectoral themes in HTT. We will concentrate initially on the following areas - synthesis/discovery, process chemistry, formulation, analysis and measurement, physical properties, informatics, modelling and experimental design, but will bridge any needs, gaps or opportunities as and when they arise." InsightFaraday´s technology translators include Richard Bahu (The Oxis Partnership), Steve Fletcher (LGC, formerly at ICI), Sarah Hosking (seconded from Unilever), David Rodham (formerly at Syngenta and technology translator for the IMPACT Faraday Partnership) and Ken Veal (consultant, recently retired from GSK). Dr Fletcher added: "Whether you are based in a large company, an SME or a university, InsightFaraday aims to facilitate the transfer and use of HTT in all scientific cases. Getting involved could bring your organisation valuable benefits such as assistance with bids for collaborative funding, leverage of research expenditure, technology road-mapping, participation in our core research programme, partnerships with researchers and suppliers, help with access to sources of development funding, or assistance with training and business change management issues arising from adoption of HTT. Blue-chip companies such as ICI, Unilever and GSK have already expressed an interest in InsightFaraday, as have SMEs such as Robinson Brothers, and over 20 universities." InsightFaraday´s purpose is to promote the development and exploitation of high throughput technologies for product and process development for the benefit of UK industry and the Science, Engineering and Technology base. InsightFaraday will facilitate collaboration between several universities and companies to achieve this objective through research, training, practice development, awareness, technical support, networking and brokering.
