MATERIALISE LAUNCHES RENEWED, USER-FRIENDLY ONLINE QUOTING & ORDERING SERVICE
25 May 2006 - Materialise NV

Materialise has always been a predecessor in offering online services. Seven years ago, the Next Day service was launched into the marketplace, a unique 24h service for online ordering of stereolithography prototypes, which has now grown into an unrivalled success.

Meeting the needs of the customer, the Materialise Next Day service was developed into a more extensive e-based customer service: OnSite.
OnSite, launched in the summer of 2004, was then based mainly on the Next Day software.

Since then the OnSite team has worked hard to make the system as userfriendly and complete as possible.

Materialise has now launched the latest version of OnSite which aims to give the user more freedom as the new system doesn't rely on the external Next Day software in order to request quotations and place online orders. The whole process is now internet-based and the quoting and ordering pages have a new look. Online ordering works via a clear and concise 4 step process, which guides the customer smoothly from one step to the other.

OnSite puts all RP technologies online, from Next Day SLA and standard SLA to SLS and FDM, including the full range of materials. The OnSite system generates very competitive prices within seconds. OnSite users only need to log in, select their CAD file and choose the appropriate technology, material and finish. The whole data file transfer is extremely secure; quotations are calculated using standard parameters. Data is not uploaded to the Materialise server until the very last stage, when the customer has finally confirmed his order. Nobody at Materialise can view or access confidential files before the actual order is placed and confirmed.

OnSite allows plastic prototypes to be ordered worldwide, 24/7. With this revamped service, Materialise expect to offer solutions in a faster and more efficient way, aiming for deliveries within one week of order placement, which subsequently increases the customer's productivity.

"The OnSite improvements over the last years are the result of our many years' experience with online services and anticipating the needs of our online customers", explains Wim Verstraeten, OnSite Product Manager. "One of our goals during the further development of OnSite was to guide the customers more closely in their quotation request. It is now possible to generate an immediate price and shipment date for SLA, SLS and FDM. For the other technologies, OnSite helps customers to send inquiries in a more structured way; as a result the Materialise sales team can handle everything faster and more efficiently. On the other hand, customers can use OnSite to upload their files securely and to avoid possible problems with large email attachments and ftp uploads." Mr. Verstraeten concludes: " All this enables both Materialise personnel and customers to work faster and more efficient.
