From the Matrox Parhelia and Advanced Synchronization Module to QID Pro, attendees were thoroughly impressed with Matrox's diverse array of dependable solutions and support

Visitors from broadcast and post production studios, to non-linear editing and compositing workstation users all converged on the Matrox booth at IBC 2004 for demonstrations of the acclaimed Parhelia Series and What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get video output plug-ins and recently announced Matrox ASM and QID Pro.

Organized in a TripleHead plus video output configuration, the 256MB Parhelia AGP 8X outputted to two flat panels and a video monitor, while the Parhelia PCI 256MB was connected in a single display plus video output mode. In this flexible configuration, applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop ran simultaneously and by employing the WYSIWYG video output feature, video output was easily toggled between the two.

Announced at the show, the new WYSIWYG video output plug-in for Discreet Combustion 3 was unveiled for all to see, providing real-time output of composite creations and projects to a video monitor and bringing the list of WYSIWYG video output plug-ins offered by Matrox to six, including: Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop, Discreet Combustion 3, 3ds max and NewTek LightWave 3D.

Attendees also got to see the new Matrox ASM in action, which offers synchronization support for the various outputs on Parhelia and other supported Matrox cards. In the demo, video content running on Parhelia and out to a video monitor was genlocked to an external sync, eliminating scan lines and ensuring a fully synchronized setup.

The other big hit at the show was undoubtedly the Matrox QID Pro. Organized in a two-by-two configuration, separate video and animation clips ran independently on each display and when a clip was double clicked it maximized seamlessly across all four for a visually impacting and explosive result.
