Great Lakes Chemical Corporation has launched two Alkanox P24-based antioxidant blends. The new, optimised blends offer improved hydrolytic stability compared to performance of the Alkanox P24 molecule as a component additive on its own. This beneficial effect is achieved by a combination of the unique physical form of Anox NDB (No Dust Blend) with a carefully selected, synergistic blend composition. Alkanox P24 is an excellent process stabiliser, first introduced in 2000, that demonstrates synergistic qualities with other primary and secondary antioxidants and selected UV stabilisers. Alkanox P24, a solid organo-phosphite antioxidant offering superior colour and melt flow protection at low addition levels, contributes to long-term heat ageing (LTHA) stability in high end polyolefin applications (PP, HD-PE, LDPE, LLDPE), styrenics, PVC, polyesters, elastomers, and adhesives. Great Lakes have a long history creating optimised additive blends that meet customer-specific needs. This solution-driven approach combines products from Great Lakes’ comprehensive range of polymer stabilisers with additives supplied by alternative sources. Such blends, known as Anox NDB, synergistically combine specified components in a dust-free, physical form, offering the user “add-on” benefits compared to those offered by the individual components alone. The newly introduced Alkanox P24 blends are yet another demonstration of the innovative solutions that can be achieved using this technology. Alkanox P24 is available individually in powder form or as an advanced granular blend. Alkanox P24 is part of an extensive line of Great Lakes’ antioxidants, which include phenolic, phosphite, and thiosynergists.
