Moldflow Corporation today announced the immediate availability of device level Ethernet support for the complete line of manufacturing solutions products. This includes four Moldflow solutions: Celltrack for real-time production management; Shotscope for process monitoring, analysis and data logging; MPX for machine setup, optimization and control; and Altanium for hot runner process control. Ethernet is a network communication standard that increases the flexibility and mobility of equipment placement on the factory floor. "Today's release of our extended Ethernet capabilities is a key piece of Moldflow's strategy to provide solutions that optimize every step in the design-through-manufacturing process. By supporting device level Ethernet, Moldflow allows factory managers to easily locate and move shop floor devices. In addition the Ethernet network allows enterprise decision makers to view the data collected on the factory floor in real time," explained Tim Triplett, Moldflow's executive vice president and general manager, Manufacturing Solutions. According to ARC Advisory Group Research Director Craig Resnick, "Manufacturers recognize that each and every process provides a vital link to real-time data for the enterprise as a whole. This is especially critical with the move towards Real-time Performance Management, which uses dynamic performance targets to drive an enterprise to reach optimum potential and achieve competitive advantage. Ethernet networking technologies help to enable high-speed integration of plant floor devices and dynamic integration with business systems. As a result, manufacturers are looking to implement real-time-based solutions at both the manufacturing and enterprise levels, a market served by Moldflow's manufacturing solutions."
