MOLDFLOW DELIVERS FIRST 210 ZONE HOT RUNNER PROCESS CONTROL SYSTEM
24 June 2004 - Moldflow Corporation

Moldflow Corporation, the world leader in software solutions for design and manufacturing analysis and optimization, announced today its first delivery of a 210 zone Altanium hot runner process control system to Kortec, the world's largest supplier of turnkey co-injection systems for multi-layer PET preforms. The system also features Moldflow's new Matrix intelligent operator interface.

"This is a major industry milestone" said Tim Triplett, Moldflow's executive vice president and general manager of Manufacturing Solutions. "Co-injection for multi-layer preforms requires exceptional melt control and process stability, especially when filling 144 cavities in one shot. Moldflow's Altanium once again proves that it is unequalled in controlling complex, high cavitation hot runner systems."

Moldflow's Altanium is the industry's first and only modular, small footprint hot runner control solution that can support from 1 to 384 zones. Its modular control units can be used free-standing, mounted on the mold or alongside, behind or even inside the injection-molding machine. The accompanying Matrix operator interface sets a new benchmark in intelligent temperature control capabilities with ergonomic access to advanced temperature control, monitoring, and alarm and diagnostics functions.

"The Moldflow team's history of designing top class hot runner process systems has allowed Kortec to advance its own turnkey solutions to meet bigger and more complex requirements," said Paul Swenson, Kortec's president and CEO. Details of the end customer name and project application are not being disclosed at their request.
