LATEST RELEASE FURTHER STRENGTHENS MANUFACTURING PRODUCT OFFERING
08 June 2004 - Moldflow Corporation
| Moldflow Corporation, the world leader in software solutions for design and manufacturing analysis and optimization, announced today the release of Moldflow Manufacturing Solutions 2.0. MMS 2.0 features numerous enhancements including new process monitoring capabilities for multi-barrel injection molding equipment and a new hybrid display for process analysis and control for the metal die cast market. |
Moldflow Manufacturing Solutions provide manufacturers the tools they need to streamline production processes and provides manufacturing management visibility to the factory floor and critical production information to allow them to make real-time business decisions. The MMS 2.0 product suite represents the integration of a series of applications powered by Moldflow Plastics Xpert and Moldflow Shotscope technologies. Multi-material molding continues to gain popularity in the automotive (e.g. taillight lenses with multiple colors) and consumer good industries (e.g. personal care, power tools and sporting goods with rubber grips). MMS 2.0 now supports the ability to schedule, manage and monitor these advanced multi-barrel injection molding machines. Further enhancements to MMS 2.0 include tracking of machine related labor activities by individual operator such as data entry for scrap, downtime for flash removal, quality inspections or packaging of components, as well as for changes to mold cavitation and material lot control numbers. The metal die cast market has its own unique set of criteria for process monitoring. To better serve it, MMS 2.0 features a new position-based display format for process analysis and control. The hybrid display shows velocity and pressure as a function of position with a switch over to a time-based display in mid-cycle. David Duarte, Moldflow's MMS product line manager, noted, "In the competitive, global manufacturing environment injection molders must not only implement systems and processes to achieve value-added demands, but must also accomplish them cost-effectively while improving the efficiency of existing operations. This release of MMS 2.0 includes a variety of enhancements, driven by our customers' goals, designed to provide a positive impact on the manufacturing cost and quality of injection molded plastic products by offering the production tracking and process monitoring software and hardware tools to effectively manage operations." According to ARC Advisory Group Research Director Craig Resnick, "Manufacturers recognize that each and every process provides a vital link to real-time data for the enterprise as a whole, which is especially critical with the move towards Real-time Performance Management that uses dynamic performance targets to drive an enterprise to its optimum potential and competitive advantage. This is driving manufacturers toward real-time-based solutions at the manufacturing and enterprise level, a space served by Collaborative Manufacturing Management software products such as Moldflow's MMS product suite."
