INTEGRATED WATERPROOFING SYSTEM FOR USE ON FOAM, LOWEST-TEMPERATURE FLASHING TAPE COMPLEMENT LINE
08 June 2006 - Owens Corning
| Owens Corning today announced three industry-leading new products that will join the company's comprehensive insulating accessory line, giving building professionals unmatched choice to protect against heat loss, moisture penetration and air filtration for a highly-effective thermal envelope. These products, unveiled to attendees of the International Builders' Show in Orlando, are only available from Owens Corning and represent the latest advances in insulating technology from the company that first invented fiber glass. |
Available in February of 2005, the three new offerings join the company's full line of accessory products currently on the market, providing building professionals with unrivaled choices and resources to better seal the building envelope: WeatherProtectR(TM) Waterproofing System is the only fully-integrated below-grade moisture resistance system available that is specifically designed for use with polystyrene foam applications. Comprised of WeatherProtectR Membrane, WeatherProtectR P Water Based Primer and WeatherProtectR M Mastic, the system will not degrade polystyrene, so it can be used in conjunction with the Owens Corning FOLD-FORM(R) insulated concrete forming system, or other polystyrene foam insulation, to create a premium air, moisture and thermal envelop for a more livable environment. The WeatherProtectR system can be applied at low temperatures and does not require tar or adhesives and needs no special equipment for installation. It is also compatible with any structural concrete, masonry, wood, plywood, metallic or plastic surface. WEATHEResist(TM) Door and Window Flashing Tape is the only pliable, asphalt-based stick tape that can be installed at temperatures as low as 20 degrees Fahrenheit without a primer, giving builders confidence even on the edges of the building season. Featuring proprietary technology, the pliable face offers ease of use at a competitive price point, while it easily conforms to window and door openings to create a strong seal that resists moisture and air filtration. PINKCap(TM) Attic Stair Insulator reduces air leaks through the attic stairwell by up to 85 percent for lower energy bills. A polystyrene foam cover for attic stair openings, in Owens Corning's signature PINK color that symbolizes quality and innovation to building professionals and homeowners alike, the lightweight, easy to handle PINKCap attic cap provides an R-value of 11 when installed properly. "Owens Corning perfected the thermal envelope and now we're turning our 65 years of building science expertise to further enhance air and moisture resistance," said Janet Albright, business manager, residential accessories, Owens Corning Insulating Systems Business. "These three new insulating accessories make the very latest advances in complete building envelope performance available to our customers to help them build better performing homes."
