Great Lakes Chemical Corporation has introduced a new flame retardant for polyurethane foams that meet MVSS 302 test requirements. Reofos NHP is a halogen-free, phosphate ester that provides a cost-effective means of achieving flame retardant performance combined with excellent fogging and physical properties. Reofos NHP is a low viscosity liquid, which does not solidify above 0C and mixes readily with polyolefins and TDI to yield well-structured foams with little discoloration or scorching. The foams exhibit excellent physical properties with good hardness and particularly low compression set. Reofos NHP is particularly suited to hot moulded polyurethane automotive seating applications.
