QUADRANT ENGINEERING PLASTIC PRODUCTS EXTENDS UNIQUE RANGE OF KETRON PEEK SHAPES WITH NEW BLACK GRADE
17 February 2004 - Quadrant EPP

Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products has added to its inventory a new, black polyetheretherketone. It is the latest addition to its unique range of these high-performance materials, which feature chemical- and stress-cracking resistance at elevated temperatures and long-term, high-mechanical strength. The new grade, Ketron PEEK 1000 Black, is ideal for machining critical components, where aesthetics are important.

Ketron PEEK 1000 Black offers outstanding steam and wear resistance: products machined from it can be used continuously to 480°F (250°C) in hot water or steam without permanent loss in physical properties. The material has a continuous service temperature, in air, of 480° F (without load), and it has a V-O flammability rating and exhibits very low smoke and toxic gas emission when exposed to flame. For hostile environments, Ketron PEEK is a high-strength alternative to fluoropolymers.

Other key features of Ketron PEEK 1000 Black include: Very low moisture-absorption; inherently good wear- and abrasion-resistance; and excellent chemical resistance. The material is resistant to weak acids, alkalies, ketones, ethers, esters (acetone), hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, alcohols, and inorganic salt solutions.

Typical properties of Ketron PEEK 1000 Black are:

Tensile strength: 16,000 psi;
Compressive strength: 20,000 psi;
Water absorption (after 24 hrs.): 0.1%.
Ketron PEEK 1000 Black is now available from stock in a broad range of rod diameters, with special sizes and shapes available on a make-to-order basis.

Ketron PEEK 1000 Black joins the other PEEK materials made by Quadrant EPP, which are: Ketron PEEK 1000 Natural, Ketron PEEK GF30 glass-fiber reinforced, Ketron PEEK CF carbon-fiber filled, Ketron PEEK HPV bearing grade and an all new static-dissipative grade called Semitron ESd 480.

About: Quadrant EPP
Quadrant, a Swiss-based public company, is a global leader in high-performance polymer materials and thermoplastic
composites which are superior in performance over metals and other materials. With 1300 employees at 27 specialised
locations worldwide, the Quadrant Group generates annual net sales of over CHF 400 million.

Quadrant develops, manufactures and distributes engineering plastics shapes – rods, bars, plates, sheets, tubes – and machined parts made of PBI, PAI, PEEK, PPS, PTFE, PEI, PPSU, PSU, PC, PET, POM, PA.
Quadrant also produces Symalit fluoroplastics (PVDF, ECTFE, ETFE, FEB, MFA, PFA), injection moulded components and cable protection conduits. Our plastic composites are produced from polypropylene matrices and glass or natural fibres and include glass mat thermoplastics (GMT, GMTex) and light weight reinforced thermoplastics (SymaLITE).
