The largest gathering in Europe for the label, product decoration, web printing and converting industry is taking place in Brussels. Rohm and Haas is using this forum to introduce its newest and fastest drying product for curtain coating technology, Robond PS 7650 adhesive. 'For the production of paper labels, line speeds have long restricted label-stock producers from achieving sought after productivity gains, says Rohm and Haas market manager for label adhesives, Suzanne Carroll. 'Restrictive line speeds, however, can now be a problem of the past. Our new high-solids acrylic adhesive, Robond PS 7650, has proven to be a tremendous break-through for curtain coating technology,' says Carroll.

Beta-tests have shown this adhesive will coat at line speeds of up to 1,300 meters-per-minute, a significant increase over normal operating speeds for most label production lines. Especially welcome for label-stock producers is the fact that this adhesive is a real workhorse product, able to meet the performance needs of a broad range of general-purpose applications.

Rohm and Haas will be producing new Robond PS-7650 at several of the company's emulsions plants. The company expects the number of paper label-stock producers moving to curtain coating technology to increase once the productivity gains of their new adhesive become more widely recognized.
