ROHM AND HAAS NEWEST TECHNOLOGIES FOR CATALYSIS AND SEPARATIONS
02 July 2004 - Rohm & Haas Co
| Rohm and Haas scientists will present information about some of the company's newest technologies for use in industrial processes, especially catalysis, metal separation, waste treatment and solution purification at two important European congresses in July. |
The company will participate in both the International Congress on Catalysis, in Paris from July 11th through the 16th, and the International Conference on Polymer and Organic Chemistry in Prague, from July 18th through 23rd. Highlights of the technologies that will be presented can be found below. More detailed technical information about these technologies and products can be found by clicking this link (www.amberlyst.com) Catalysis Rohm and Haas will highlight its breakthrough, experimental AMBERLYST XE781 catalyst, the first in a new line of products that are stable at high processing temperatures, as high as 180-200°C (356-392°F). This product is therefore particularly well-suited for use in olefin hydration, esterification, isomerization and aromatic alkylation. Other Rohm and Haas catalysts enhance the flexibility and improve the economics of processes for fuel additive (MTBE, TAME and ETBE) and bisphenol A production among others. Metal Separation/Recovery of Precious Metals Rohm and Haas has more than 60 years' experience in ion exchange and adsorbent technologies. Some of Rohm and Haas' latest offerings include products that help recover uranium for use in reactor fuel, and specialized anionic resins that target the recovery of precious metals, including gold, silver, platinum, palladium, iridium, osmium, ruthenium and rhodium. The recovery of metals from geothermal brines represents some of the newest market applications for ion exchange resin technology, which is used to remove impurities from these clean, low cost energy sources. Ion exchange resins can also be used to capture mercury and organic vapors and reduce unwanted air emissions without generating the dust that can result when alternative technologies, such as activated carbon air filters are used. The company also offers a complete line of specialty resins, called chelating resins, which are tailored to selectively target and remove specific types of metals. Further information about these specialty resins can be found by clicking this link (www.amberlyst.com).
