Rohm and Haas Company announced a new water-based, pressure-sensitive adhesive to overcome adhesion breakdowns with calcium-based papers. New Robond PS 7845 adhesive is expected to be of special interest to label converters experiencing adhesion difficulties. "Robond PS 7845 adhesive was designed to eliminate intermittent adhesion problems for papers containing higher concentrations of clay and calcium," says Sue Graham, global PSA marketing manager for Rohm and Haas Company. "Our analyses found that label adhesion difficulties often stem from component migration as PSA labels age," she adds. Robond PS 7845 is available for adhesive formulations, or as a ready-to-use adhesive compound. Those wishing to formulate adhesives with Robond PS 7845 adhesive should contact the company to determine suitable additives for proper formulating. Customers seeking ready-to-use adhesives can source from Rohm and Haas, since the company produces custom mixtures for specific label application requirements anywhere in the world. In either case, label makers need not question paper suppliers so closely about paper content, or run as many trials, says Graham.
