ROHM AND HAAS COMPANY BEGINS PRODUCTION OF ITS NEW LOW MONOMER ADHESIVES FAMILY
Rohm and Haas Company has begun production of its new extremely low monomer adhesives family, the ROBONDSF 3000 series, in Bremen, Germany. The first commercially available product will be ROBOND SF 3100/CR190. Because the ROBOND SF 3000 series adhesives are based on aromatic isocyanate chemistry, their unique formulation dramatically lowers the risk of primary aromatic amine formation to levels not possible with conventional adhesives. Primary aromatic amines are of continuing concern to regulatory agencies and the public for their potential to migrate from packaging materials into foodstuffs. This innovative family of products is initially available to Rohm and Haas customers in Europe. "It provides an answer to the aromatic amine issue that arose 10 years ago in Europe and continues to challenge packaging customers worldwide," comments Frank Bozich, General Manager Europe for the Adhesives and Sealants business unit. "We are one of very few companies to develop advanced adhesives like ROBOND SF that conscientiously address public concerns and still deliver unmatched performance." The 100 percent solids, two-component line is tailored for a variety of medium performance packaging applications such as coffee vacuum packs, standup pouches for drinks and moist foods, and many more packaging applications. The quick-curing products are also suitable for general purpose applications.
