NEW PATTERNED FINISH REFLECTIONSCINC
25 June 2006 - ThyssenKrupp Steel

Based on the successful color collection ReflectionsOne, ThyssenKrupp Hoesch Bausysteme is now offering an additional design option for a new color experience in building with steel. The characteristic feature of the new finish called ReflectionsCinc is a printed spangle pattern. Like the ReflectionsOne collection, it was developed in association with the renowned color designer Friedrich Ernst von Garnier.

Spangle is the name experts give to the organic-looking structure that forms on the surface of corrosion-protected steel due to irregular crystal growth in the protective zinc coating. ReflectionsCinc borrows this structure and uses it in greatly enlarged form on the surface of the color coating of construction elements.

The steel strip from which the construction elements are produced is first given an organic coating with a color tone from the ReflectionsOne collection. In a second step the spangle-like pattern, also in a color tone from the ReflectionsOne collection, is printed on the surface. A transparent top coating provides the necessary protection. The ReflectionsOne collection consists of 21 carefully coordinated color series. It enables architects and planners to design the colors of the buildings to blend harmoniously with their natural surroundings or neighboring structures.

ReflectionsCinc is available for all ThyssenKrupp Hoesch Bausysteme facade elements and has already been used in several reference projects. Back in 2004, a pilot project used ReflectionsCinc-coated Thermowand elements for balcony balustrades in the modernization of precast concrete buildings in the cities of Gera and Weimar. One current project is being carried out by BIM Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH to revamp a 100,000 square meter three-part building complex in the Berlin district of Lichtenberg.

In phase one of the project, the facade of a 200 meter long six-story building section was modernized to designs by Friedrich Ernst von Garnier. It involved the use of more than 5,000 square meters of ReflectionsCinc-coated corrugated profiles and Hoesch Thermowand sandwich panels from ThyssenKrupp Hoesch Bausysteme. The sandwich panels create design accents between the windows, while the corrugated profiles serve as outer cladding for the stairwells. More than 3,500 square meters of construction elements with the ReflectionsCinc coating are already planned for phase two of the project, a 15-story building section.
