A NEW FAMILY OF SURFACE-MOUNT ALUMINUM CAPACITORS WITH VERY LOW IMPEDANCE FOR VISHAY
24 June 2006 - Vishay Electronic

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today announced a new family of surface-mount aluminum capacitors with very low impedance, high ripple current, long useful life, and solderability under lead (Pb)-free conditions. The new 150 CRZ capacitors are also compliant with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances.

Ideally suited for filtering, smoothing, buffering, and voltage decoupling applications in lead (Pb)-free electronic circuits, the new capacitors can be utilized in end products including automotive components, industrial controls, SMPS units, domestic appliances, and telecom equipment.

The 150 CRZ capacitors feature a very low "Z," or maximum impedance at 100 kHz, that is specified as low as 0.10 ohms and a high rated ripple current of 850 mA at 105 °C. They have a very long useful life of 3,000 hours at that temperature.

These polarized aluminum capacitors have non-solid electrolyte and are self-healing. Their construction makes them charge- and discharge-proof, with no peak current limitations. Three nominal case sizes are available: 0810 (8 mm x 8 mm x 10 mm), 1010 (10 mm x 10 mm x 10 mm), and 1014 (10 mm x 10 mm x 14 mm). The surface-mount design with base plate is reflow-solderable in accordance with their datasheet.

The new 150 CRZ capacitors are supplied in blister tape-on-reel packaging. Samples are available now with lead times of four to seven weeks, and production quantities will be available in March 2006 with lead times of 8 to 12 weeks for larger orders.
