NEW 3M DIAMOND GRADE DG3 REFLECTIVE SHEETING, THE SIGN OF THE TIMES

Using breakthrough reflective technology, 3M has developed a brand new reflective sheeting for traffic signage that provides optimum visibility at long, medium and short distances. New 3MÔ Diamond Grade DG3 Reflective Sheeting combines the performance and benefits of both Diamond Grade Long Distance Performance sheeting and Diamond Grade Visual Impact Performance Sheeting in one product to offer increased levels of luminance and safety for all drivers in all environments.

Liz Newell-Hart, Technical & Regulatory Affairs Manager for 3M Traffic Safety Systems, explains, "Up until now, all prismatic reflective sheeting used for signage has incorporated truncated cube corners as the optics for retroreflection. Truncated cube corners, though capable of higher efficiency than beaded optics, are not fully efficient. DG3 Reflective Sheeting incorporates the new and unique technology of micro-replicated full cube corner optics. In DG3 all of the full cube corners retroreflect light, resulting in a considerably more light return to satisfy the luminance needs of a higher percentage of drivers and driving situations. DG3 Reflective Sheeting uses the same colour pigments as Diamond Grade VIP Reflective Sheeting so affords brilliant daytime and night-time colour. Like VIP, DG3 provides excellent sign brightness in the short to medium distances and at wide entrance and observation angles, but in addition, the full cube corner optics provide outstanding performance at long distances. This combination of properties makes it ideal for the improved visibility of traffic signs on motorways, primary routes and in rural & urban environments."

New DG3 Reflective Sheeting achieves the highest performance of all microprismatic products under the British Standard for Microprismatic Sheeting (BS 8408:2005).
