EXCEED 1012 MVLDPE AND NEXXSTAR RESIN FORMULATIONS FOR THE INDIAN MARKET
30 July 2006 - ExxonMobil Chemical Co

ExxonMobil Chemical will present two new high performance packaging solutions, Exceed 1012 mVLDPE and Nexxstar resin formulations for collation shrink and stretch hood films.

In addition, the company will also present its broad range of polyethylene (high density, low density and linear low density), specialty copolymers, polypropylene, ethylene elastomers and metallocene catalyzed products, and its global technology, supply and service capabilities.

Exceed 1012 mVLDPE
New Exceed 1012 metallocene polyethylene has been developed for flexible packaging in food applications. This very low density (0.912 g/cm3) product exhibits exceptional toughness and strength and, with a dart impact performance three times that of conventional VLDPE and outstanding puncture resistance, films manufactured with Exceed mVLDPE offer downgauging opportunities to reduce costs.

Because of its low sealing temperature, less energy is required for sealing, and its cold temperature impact performance is excellent for frozen food packaging applications. The good clarity, outstanding gloss and very low haze properties are equivalent to conventional VLDPE, making Exceed mVLDPE an attractive choice for food packaging displays and barcode scanning. The new Exceed 1012 metallocene polyethylene is available in two grades, CA (non slip) and EA (with slip), so that surface properties can be tailored to meet the needs of specific applications.

Samples of film made with Exceed 1012 mVLDPE will be available at the company stand, while demonstrations will be conducted on a 3-layer blown film co-extrusion line on Mamata Brampton Engineering’s Stand M1, Hall 5.

Nexxstar resin formulations for collation shrink packaging film
Dazzling packaging performance, economic benefit and enhanced retail marketing opportunities can all be achieved using new Nexxstar resin formulations for collation shrink packaging films. Suitable for the bottled water, beverage, detergent and personal care sectors, these co-extruded film formulations offer the following benefits to both converters and brand owners: superior optical properties such as improved clarity, reduced haze and high gloss for enhanced product/brand appeal; excellent toughness for outstanding packaging integrity; and, impressive stiffness reducing the need for trays and other costly packaging materials. Downgauging the film without compromising performance enables costs to be lowered by 10-15 percent compared to shrink films and by more than 50 percent compared to paperboard.

Nexxstar resin formulations for stretch hood packaging film
While reshaping end-of-line packaging, this solution outperforms shrink hood in criteria such as film cost-per-pallet, operating cost, goods protection and packaging speed, Nexxstar resin formulations for stretch hood packaging applications are also a very attractive alternative compared to cardboard packaging. The benefits include: lower operating costs (30 percent reduction) because the same holding force can be obtained while down-gauging the film structure; outstanding puncture- and tear-propagation resistance, which leads to less product damage, and improved clarity, enabling easier bar-code scanning and branding.
