Rigorous testing of the performance of adhesives has been greatly simplified by materials testing specialist, Lloyd Instruments. NEXYGEN MT, the company's versatile materials testing and control software, features a vast test library of test set ups to allow international industry standard tests to be performed. For adhesives applications, these include for example, the fatigue properties of structural adhesives in tensile shear (BS EN ISO 9665:1995), the unwinding forces of self adhesive tapes (BS EN 12026:1997) and peel tests for flexible materials bonded to rigid samples (BS EN 28510-1 to 2:1993).

NEXYGEN software can be used with Lloyd Instruments'Plus, EZ and LR universal testing machines. This versatile range covers forces up to 300kN. Environmental and aging tests can be used to simulate accelerated shelf life of products. By fitting environment chambers, it is possible to test adhesives under simulated real life conditions by subjecting the component to increased conditions of humidity and temperature, then retesting to check the bond performance.

New features include strict multi-level user security and audit trails for complete traceability of data, video capture and playback, and extended instrument interfaces. Other benefits include a new clear integrated HTML help system, improved test set-ups, and new reporting and exporting features.
