Moog’s Digital Interface Valve is Design News’ "Best Product of 2001" for the fluid power industry. Moog’s Digital Interface Valve was selected as a winner by an independent panel of judges reviewing products in the fluid power industry for "ingenuity and innovation." Winners were selected in six other industrial categories as well and are all featured in the December 3, 2001, issue of Design News. In that issue, judges state that Moog’s Digital Interface Valve "scored the highest for its flexible functions." One of the judges, Hagen Schempft, Ph.D., Senior Systems Scientist, Carnegie Melon University, commented that "Moog’s [Digital Interface Valve] is a step into the future of smart and networked actuation and sensing systems." The Digital Interface Valve has fieldbus communications and configurable functions that enable customers to define the dynamic behavior of the valve and adapt its characteristics to particular application requirements. It provides high-precision digital flow and pressure control, replacing analog technology. State-of-the art functionality, such as diagnostic capabilities, integrated monitoring of key environmental and internal characteristics, and valve parameter modification, can be accessed on-site or remotely, making this one of the most revolutionary designs on the market. This product is being beta tested and will be available for purchase in 2002.
