DuPont Surlyn enables the injection moulding of thick-walled parts without sink marks and voids. This is illustrated by latest applications such as the stylish bottle cap for the perfume range 'New Yorker Woman and Man', the crystal-clear CD holder 'Dimitri', as well as brilliantly-coloured components of the new 'WC-Cleaner'. *Mäurer + Wirtz GmbH & Co KG of Stolberg, Germany, has created a thick-walled bottle cap for the perfume range 'New Yorker Woman and Man'. During just one processing stage, the company is able to produce the crystal-clear moulded part with a part highly-polished, part frosted surface. With this surface texture continuing on the glass bottle, Surlyn ensures that the cap appears every bit as luxurious as the bottle. A further benefit of the material is its high chemical resistance. *The CD holder 'Dimitri' by Koziol GmbH, Erbach, Germany, is also made of Surlyn. The material provides crystal-clear transparency and a scratch-resistant, shiny surface. And although the moulded part contains considerable differences in wall thickness, it can be easily injection-moulded in Surlyn without sink marks and voids. *A completely new toilet brush, the 'WC Cleaner ND 27' has been developed by dorenwendt design GmbH & Co KG, Wachstedt, Germany. A dash of colour is provided by a holder made of Surlyn. In this case it was the good colourability of the material which was an important criteria in material selection. According to the manufacturer, a further benefit of Surlyn for this particular application was its resistance to cracking and the freedom of design provided by the material. DuPont Surlyn is suitable for a wide range of applications in cosmetics packaging and other luxury articles. It helps create a luxurious appearance, provides a pleasant touch and offers a high level of security (compared to glass). Thanks to the beneficial characteristics of Surlyn , requirements such as chemical resistance, high transparency, eye-catching colours and scratch-resistant surfaces are easily met.
