Honeywell has announced price increases on refrigerants R-134a and R-22 and six refrigerant blends used as retrofit replacements for chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) R-12 and R-502. The increases, effective 6 December 2004, are in the range of 5-12.5%, depending on product and package size. According to Honeywell, the demand for retrofit products used as CFC replacements continues to decline as older refrigerant equipment is replaced with more energy-efficient refrigeration and foodservice systems. The affected Honeywell refrigerant products included Genetron 134a, Genetron 22, Genetron MP39, Genetron MP66, Genetron HP80, Genetron HP81, Genetron 408A, and Genetron 409A. These refrigerants are part of the Honeywell Genetron product portfolio of Honeywell Chemicals, and are used in a variety of supermarket refrigeration, foodservice and residential and commercial air conditioning applications.
