NEW CAPABILITIES IMPROVE SITUATIONAL AWARENESS, RESPONSE TIME TO ALARMS

Honeywell has received certification from Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. to integrate fire annunciation capabilities into its newest security system platform[1], the Honeywell Vindicator V5 Network Security Appliance. The new capabilities will allow Vindicator to display fire alarm information to local and remote security personnel, enabling them to respond faster to fire emergencies.

“Tight integration is an extremely effective strategy for high-security facilities of all types, said Brian Holmes, director of sales for Honeywell’s Vindicator Security Solutions. “We had been receiving requests for this integration, so it only made sense to bring fire detection and alarms into the equation to give security personnel a complete picture of what’s happening in their facilities.”

The Vindicator solution does not replace or alter the fire detection system, but rather supplements it. With integrated fire annunciation, the system allows an operator to receive event information from a building’s fire system, as well as perimeter intrusion, video detection and access control systems, at a single console.

The Vindicator network allows security system information to be transmitted either on an existing or separate facility network over any media: wire, RF, modem, fiber, etc. both encrypted and redundantly. This critical level of security is often required by government and military installations, chemical and industrial facilities, and many correctional institutions.
