HONEYWELL LAUNCHES SMALLEST TRUE ELECTRICAL VFD BYPASS ASSEMBLY AVAILABLE IN THE HVAC INDUSTRY TODAY
13 June 2006 - Honeywell Specialty Materials
| Honeywell today introduced the new Slimline variable frequency drive bypass assembly, the smallest “true” electrical bypass assembly available in the HVAC industry today. |
Variable frequency drives save energy by keeping building control systems from running at full speed all the time, extending equipment life by reducing wear and tear. In mission-critical applications, a variable frequency drive bypass assembly is then installed for one reason: to keep pumps or air handlers running if the variable frequency drive fails. Honeywell’s revolutionary Slimline VFD bypass assembly allows full-speed motor operation with the VFD completely removed, while the 2- and 3-contactor designs means it is now possible to switch to bypass, regardless of the VFD’s condition. “Consulting engineers and their customers are under increasing pressure to bring in jobs on time and on budget,” said Honeywell senior product manager Steven Gonzalez. “For it to be worth the money, the bypass needs to 1) keep the motor running even if the drive is removed, and 2) be enabled if any part of the drive fails. If a bypass doesn’t do these two things, you may incur significant downtime on the job, even though the VFD might meet the spec. The Slimline was carefully engineered to meet all of these critical customer needs.” With its light weight and revolutionary compact design, Honeywell’s Slimline VFD assembly also maintains the small form contractors want, saving valuable wall space. Mounting kits, another industry first, help make Slimline installation easy. Contractors can order the Slimline pre-assembled in frames 4, 5, 6 and 7, providing applications from 1.5 to 75 HP. “Since the Slimline comes preassembled in a kit, installation can be completed as soon as the assemblies arrive at the job site, rather than assembling them in the field in less-than-ideal conditions,” added Gonzales. “Easy installation means contractors have to spend less time on the job, which can improve the project’s overall cash flow.” To learn more, contact your local Honeywell Authorized Distributor or Honeywell sales representative.
