Honeywell today announced the release of the STT170 series of low-cost programmable temperature transmitters. The new STT170 series complements the field proven STT250 and STT350 family of temperature transmitters.

“The STT170 series temperature transmitters offer high versatility at a very affordable price,” said Revathi Advaithi, vice president of Honeywell Process Solutions’ Industrial Measurement and Control business. “Honeywell is pleased to add the STT170 to our widely accepted line of temperature transmitters.”

The STT170 series is available in dual input models with a variety of output types including linearized 4-20 ma, HART and Foundation Fieldbus protocols. The flexible STT170 series simplifies connection to control and data acquisition devices while also reducing wiring costs associated with traditional thermocouple installations. PC based configuration capability reduces engineering, calibration and startup costs.

The STT170 series offers many other features including:

Automatic alerts. The transmitter can be configured to automatically check one sensor against the other and generate an alarm if sensors produced inaccurate results.
Security. Users can program a high- or low-limit alarm to activate in the case of sensor failure.

Consistency. Temperatures are measured consistently thanks to two dissimilar sensor types that prevent sensor degradation and failure.
Reduced installation costs. Direct sensor-head mounting reduces installation costs by eliminating the need to install separate transmitter housings.
Reduced maintenance costs. Online diagnostics and remote access reduce overall maintenance costs by streamlining many operations.
