HUSKY'S TECHNICAL CENTRE DEMONSTRATES COMPANY'S COMMITMENT TO CHINA
17 November 2004 - Husky Injection Molding Systems

Husky Injection Moulding Systems has officially opened its new energy-efficient technical centre in Shanghai China, reinforcing its global commitment to an environmentally responsible business model.

Husky Injection Moulding Systems has officially opened its new energy-efficient technical centre in Shanghai China, reinforcing its global commitment to an environmentally responsible business model.

The centre serves as Husky's new headquarters in Asia and provides industry-leading injection-moulding equipment and services. Designed by Husky, the facility is one of the most energy-efficient industrial buildings in Asia -- it uses 40% of the average amount of energy required for a building of its size.

'Shanghai is the latest example of our on-going commitment to operate our business in a sustainable manner,' Robert Schad, Husky President and CEO, said. 'Sustainability is at the core of how we recognize opportunities, make decisions, return value and operate our business for long-term success.'

Energy-saving features of the centre include:
*highly insulated concrete construction, with radiant floors and ceilings, allows hot or cold water to flow through, providing efficient heating and cooling;
*an underground pile system that provides naturally cooled water for the building's summer cooling needs;
*a simple ventilation system that allows warm air to escape the building, reducing air conditioning requirements;
*skylights and perimeter glazing that allow natural light inside, reducing electricity requirements;
*the production of hot water from steam purchased from a nearby thermoelectric plant; and
*naturalized landscaping that eliminates the use of pesticides and other chemicals.

Husky's environmental efforts go beyond the energy-saving initiatives in Shanghai. Husky has woven sustainability into all facets of its business, including how it hires and treats employees, designs buildings, maintains property and manages its energy and community investment programmes. The company awards employees common shares for buying fuel-efficient cars, cycling to work or using non-motorized lawn equipment. The company was placed 14th in this year's Corporate Knights ranking of Canada's Best 50 Corporate Citizens.

The centre allows Husky to expand its business in China and continue to meet the increasing needs of its customers throughout Asia. The facility's capabilities currently include hot runner manufacturing, systems integration, training, mould trials, machine demonstrations, as well as mould refurbishment and spare parts support. Husky also has plans to manufacture small injection-moulding machines in China.

'The technical centre allows us to provide industry-leading customer support and product innovation in one of the fastest growing markets in the world,' Marcus Sutch, President of Husky Asia, said. 'Husky is proud of its established base of 14 locations in Asia. Our broad geographic coverage in the region allows us to make a significant long-term contribution to our customers.'
