ROHM AND HAAS ARRIVES AT PACK EXPO ON A WAVE OF NEW WATER-BASED ADHESIVE SOLUTIONS
06 September 2006 - Rohm & Haas Co
| Rohm and Haas Company continues to assert their lead in water-based acrylic adhesives technology as they showcase new and novel solutions for food packaging and converting applications. The company’s 2nd Generation water-based adhesives, Robond L230 and L330 adhesives, as well as a new Coseal cold seal adhesive that avoids allergic reactions to natural rubber latex and their new Mor-free 225 solventless adhesive for clear retort packaging, all live up to the company’s theme for this year, Planet- friendly Ecology and Safety With Rohm and Haas Adhesives. |
Rohm and Haas 2nd Generation Water-based Adhesives for Dry Bond Laminating, Robond L230 and L330, were specifically developed to meet general and medium performance applications for a broad range of packaging laminations. These environmentally friendly products provide bond strength and chemical resistance typical of solvent adhesives, with excellent laminating performance even on CPP films and laminate constructions with aluminum foil. This unique product line enables converters to run on existing solvent-based equipment, operate at faster line speeds, and use a single product for multiple packaging requirements. These high shear adhesives allow further processing after lamination, unmatched by solvent-borne and solvent-free technologies. Having recently introduced the first solventless adhesive for clear retort structures, the company expects their line of Mor-Free solventless adhesives to be of great interest to converters and end-users, in part because of their unique combination of performance, versatility, safety, and efficiency. These environmentally friendly retort adhesives comply with the latest complex FDA regulations for retort packaging. A number of Rohm and Haas technical experts in the area of FDA compliance for food packaging will be on hand at Pack Expo and available to discuss FDA compliance issues. Mor-Free solventless adhesives can be applied at the high speeds now possible with modern solventless laminating equipment, and achieve fast cure and rapid bond development at ambient temperatures. From film laminations for produce packaging to complicated retort structures, Rohm and Haas versatile Mor-Free adhesives are known to satisfy almost every need. Also highlighted at Pack Expo are the company’s Coseal cold seal adhesives, which have sparked interest among many packagers seeking to eliminate the potential for latex allergic reactions in food packaging while retaining good packaging performance. Special Rohm and Haas Presentation During Pack Expo Rohm and Haas will also present up-to-date research and development findings in a special presentation during the Pack Expo conference. Speaking on Tuesday, October 31st, will be Dr. Mai Chen. Her presentation is entitled ‘New Waterborne Acrylic Technology for Packaging Laminations’ and will include information related to how this technology complies with current FDA regulations.
