NEW 3M COLD SHRINK KITS MAKE POWER CABLE INSTALLATION FASTER, EASIER AND MORE COST-EFFECTIVE
Global technology company 3M has today announced its expanded range of 3M Cold Shrink products, designed to make connecting medium voltage power cables faster and more reliable, helping to reduce the time and costs associated with installing and maintaining cable joints and terminations. Virtually any cable jointing or terminating requirement can be supported, including connecting legacy paper cables with new polymeric cables. In addition, 3M now provides Cold Shrink in kit form for a wide range of typical cable jointing and terminating applications, giving installers an all-in-one solution. The design of Cold Shrink means that installation is rapid and of a consistently high standard, without the need to apply heat or use specialist tools. As a result, less time is spent on-site, reducing project costs, and the risk of faults in the future is reduced. Cold Shrink kits, many of which have been designed in association with Scottish Power, are available via appointed specialist distributors. Existing customers of 3M Cold Shrink includes most of the UK's power utilities, other utilities, rail networks and major construction companies. The range supports applications up to 46kV and covers in-line joints, branch joints, loop joints, hybrid joints, terminations, end caps, barrier boots and separable connectors. Any requirements outside the scope of the standard range can be met by products tailored to the individual customer's needs.
