MORGAN RECEIVES THREE CONTRACTS FROM SPANISH FIRM
17 January 2005 - Morgan Construction Company

Morgan Construction Company has received three contracts from Siderúrgica Añón, SA of La Coruña in Spain, to design, build and install several modifications to its combination single-stand bar and rod mill.

Morgan Construction Company has received three contracts from Siderúrgica Añón, SA of La Coruña in Spain, to design, build and install several modifications to its combination single-stand bar and rod mill.

Mark Shore, vice president, Rolling Mill Sales and Proposals, in announcing the contract, said, “Two of the contracts are for upgrades to the existing bar mill, while the third is to make the rod outlet independent of the bar mill.”

“The first contract,” he explained, “is for the addition of a HYQSTÔ cooling system to the existing bar mill, while the second is for two new NH28 stands that will enable the mill to roll a larger billet. The third contract,” he continued, “is for the addition of new roughing, intermediate and pre-finishing mill stands that will independently feed the high-speed rod mill that Morgan installed in early 2004. This will result in providing Añón with two separate mills in one location,” he noted.

The high-speed rod mill produces 5.5 to 16.0 mm rod at 105 metres per second up to 90 metric tons per hour for the production of wire rod. Shore added that these contracts are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2005.
