18 September 2006 - BOC Gases
| Intervent(tm), a food safety business of BOC, has signed an exclusive marketing agreement with Wolf-tec, Inc. of Kingston, N.Y. Under the agreement, Wolf-tec will market the Intervent(tm) UltraV Fluid Sterilizer to animal protein processors across North America for use with injection systems that tenderize and inject marinades into meats during processing. |
Intervent offers proven ozone and ultraviolet light technologies designed specifically for use in food and beverage plants, and also provides HACCP and food science consulting services. Wolf-tec is a leading global manufacturer of technologically advanced processing equipment for marinating and curing meat products. “This combination of proven Wolf-tec processing and Intervent anti-microbial technologies will benefit customers through improved food safety and product quality. For consumers, the benefits will include a high level of safety, more appealing appearance, and better taste in the foods they purchase,” said Mark DiMaggio, BOC business manager, food safety markets, who manages Intervent’s operations. “We are excited that the world’s leading manufacturer of injector technology has chosen Intervent as its food safety partner. By working together, Intervent and Wolf-tec can provide turn-key anti-microbial solutions for our customer’s marinades and brines. And most important, consumers will be assured of the highest quality meat and poultry products,” DiMaggio said. Ralf Ludwig, Wolf-tec CEO, said, “The partnership with Intervent and the backing of BOC, a global leader in the development of food safety technologies, will allow us to provide our customers with the very best in food processing and validated food safety products and systems. We are pleased that BOC has recognized our strong position in the North American marketplace and look forward to providing this additional technology to both existing and new customers.” The collaborative effort will allow animal protein processors to integrate Intervent ultraviolet light anti-microbial technology into both existing and new food processing fluid injection equipment and systems. Wolf-tec will market the Intervent technology not only for its own injection products, but also for other manufacturers’ products. BOC will provide engineering and technical service support to the customer. Intervent technologies provide low-cost solutions for pathogen reduction that are easy to install and that can potentially extend product shelf life. The proprietary UltraV FS-54 is designed specifically to treat injection marinades and brines. The UV treatment continuously kills microbes and pathogens during processing, thereby reducing opportunities for cross contamination of food products in the plant. This creates not only a safer processing environment, but also safer and healthier foods for the end consumer. The Intervent UV anti-microbial treatment systems can be incorporated into a plant’s HACCP plan as a critical control point for the processing of non-intact meats that are tenderized and injected. The meats can include broilers, turkeys, pork and beef. Wolf-tec delivers dynamic and innovative solutions for meat, poultry and seafood processors. The company is recognized by its customers as a first class business partner in the supply of high quality equipment, systems and technical support for better, safer and more cost effective manufacturing methods. Wolf-tec’s technologies are customer driven and proven in installations all around the world. Food and beverage processors look to BOC for its experience and expertise in helping to deliver the engineered solutions they need. BOC helps customers address their atmosphere, microbe and temperature control requirements so they can deliver the highest quality food and beverages to their customers. BOC provides a range of offerings, such as ozone and UV light anti-microbial systems, cryogenic gases including carbon dioxide and nitrogen for freezing and chilling, modified atmosphere packaging, state-of-the-art food and beverage monitoring and control technologies, and water management services.
