In Germany, the trade association of plastic consumer goods, Fachverband Kunststoff Konsumwaren (FVKK) has chosen Braun's Oral-B CrossAction Power electric toothbrush as product of the year 2004 in the category ‘General Requirements’. The handle is made of BASF's plastic material Luran S, and is available in blue, magenta, purple or green. The shades were developed exclusively for these toothbrushes by BASF’s Color Competence Center, in line with the designers' wishes. Luran S is especially suitable for this application owing to its chemical and impact resistance. The plastic is an acrylonitrile/styrene/acrylate copolymer and belongs to the speciality range of styrenic plastics produced by BASF. The competition ‘Product of the Year’ has been held for 25 years. The FVKK awards the prize to new plastic consumer goods, thereby promoting innovations in the plastics industry. An independent jury assesses function, creativity and design of the submitted products. The FVKK is the trade association of the German plastic processing plants of all production procedures, which manufacture and drive consumer goods out and consumer durables. Together with plastic processing plants of other product ranges (delivery parts, semi-finished material and packing) the FVKK the general association ‘forms plastic processing industry eV’ (GKV) as central association of the plastic processing industry in Germany and member federation of the BDI and the European plastic federation EuPC in Brussels.
