BOC AND HUDSON TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCE EXCLUSIVE GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY ALLIANCE
26 June 2003 - BOC Gases

BOC and Hudson Technologies, a leading player in the US refrigerants market, have today announced the signing of a global alliance to promote a technology that ‘cleans’ refrigerants. The technology will improve plant efficiency leading to greater energy savings for customers and environmental benefits from reduced carbon dioxide emissions.

The new technology, launched for the first time outside the USA, cleans the ‘fluids’, refrigerants and oils that may have become contaminated within a refrigeration system. Any contamination can cause failures within the mechanical system or reduced efficiency thereby increasing energy requirements. Analysis of the fluids can help identify where the contamination may be coming from, contamination which can be cured by cleaning.

Kevin Baudhuin, BOC’s global director, special products, said: “We feel Hudson’s refrigerants recovery and reclaim technology is superior to any other currently available. Its main advantages are speed of operation and that it can operate without requiring the plant to be shut down.

“For our customers that means financial savings, as a plant shutdown can lead to a heavy financial cost. In addition, it means that as well as supplying refrigerant gases BOC can now offer our customers added value services, greater equipment efficiency, and cost and energy savings.

“Our strategy is built on providing a wide product range and a quality service offering based on strong environmental principles that naturally include recovery, recycling and reclaim of all refrigerants.

Together, BOC and Hudson Technologies aim to develop the refrigerant market for refrigerant reclamation and in-plant refrigerant fluid efficiency using Hudson’s technology combined with BOC’s strong global presence as a world leader in the distribution and marketing of refrigerants.

News of the agreement comes as BOC, one of the leading refrigerant reclaimers in the UK, has revealed it will use Hudson Technologies high speed reclamation and decontamination equipment at its own newly upgraded refrigerants-filling facility at Immingham in the UK. The equipment will be high-speed recovery, reclaim and decontamination technology that increases the flow of refrigerants which can be recycled and cleaned-up.
