BOC-HRP DISTRIBUTION DEAL IS BOOST FOR NATURAL REFRIGERANTS MARKET
08 March 2002 - BOC Gases
| The alliance between BOC and air conditioning and refrigeration specialist HRP, which became official on February 11, means natural hydrocarbon refrigerants will now be available on a wider scale than ever before in the UK. |
Bringing BOC’s network of retail gas outlets together with the country's largest specialist distributor HRP coincides with rising demand for this type of non-global warming, ozone friendly refrigerant. BOC has been the national distributor for the CARE range of HCs from Calor Gas Refrigeration since 2000 and this same agreement will now also cover HRP. "The two companies complement each other very well," said Mike Dennis, BOC’s business director, special products. "The smaller contractors are not our natural customer base, so by linking up with HRP we are opening up the market to them. This is particularly significant for CARE because more engineers are asking for hydrocarbons and being asked to use them by their customers." HRP customers will now have access to the more extensive BOC branch network, but will still be able to call on the specialist expertise of HRP for technical support. "HRP offers a more comprehensive service than we do in the refrigeration market because of their wider product range and the knowledge they have of refrigeration technology through their service centre staff," said Mike. "But we will widen their distribution reach while also offering technical support in more general areas such as health and safety and refrigerant recycling." The alliance between the two companies creates a service centre network larger than the rest of the refrigerant market’s wholesalers combined. "The creation of this massive network with its wealth of expertise is a very significant development for the hydrocarbon refrigerant market," added CARE general manager, Loretta Powell. "We have seen a rapid rise in demand for HCs over the past two years and small contractors, in particular, will find this arrangement valuable by giving them easier access to supplies." HRP has been developing its ‘single source’ concept for some years and says the agreement with BOC takes it one step closer to realising its ambition to hold everything the refrigeration engineer needs for his or her day-to-day work. "We are proud of the fact that we can give contractors of all sizes access to market leading brands in all areas of refrigeration and air conditioning," said HRP managing director, Ron Woodham. "CARE is clearly the leading name in hydrocarbon refrigerants, a solution that grows more popular with the industry and its clients by the day. "Our arrangement with BOC means we can now offer a wider choice of products through a wider network delivering the ultimate in service."
