The Chinese Government has awarded Eastman Chemical Co the certificate on Environmental Labeling Type II for Texanol ester alcohol and TXIB plasticizer. Known in China as the ‘Green Label’, the certificate is official recognition of certified products as healthy, safe and environment-friendly. The label is a key official certificate encouraging protection of the environment in a wide range of industries. It is issued by the China Environmental United Certification Co Ltd (CEC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the State Environmental Protection Administration of China (SEPA). 'We are pleased to see that leading international market players such as Eastman are applying for Green Labels. This is very helpful for us to further promote this certificate in China, hence improving the overall environmental protection in this country,' said Chen Yanping, CEC Director. 'We are happy to see Eastman receive this certificate, which means we have been using green and safe ingredients in our paints,' remarked Duan Zhimei, Director of Nippon Paint Langfang. The Green label has become a well recognized symbol for healthy, safe and environment-friendly products in China since it was first launched by the SEPA in 1993. 'We are honoured to receive this certificate, which is in recognition of our efforts on health, safety and environment (HSE). Eastman has long committed to HSE in all of our operations around the world,' says Damon Warmack, President for Asia Pacific of Eastman. 'This certification is an example of our continuing commitment to work with China on cleaner and greener site operations and other products such as clean coal technology and PETG plastics.'
