DSM EXPANDS PRODUCTION CAPACITY AT KUNSHAN PLANT IN CHINA
DSM Eternal Resins (Kunshan) has decided to expand its production facility for polyester powder coating resins in Kunshan, China. It is the second capacity increase after the inauguration of the plant in 1998. The new capacity is expected to come on stream during the second half of 2005. Don Verstegen, Business Groups Director of DSM Coating Resins, commented: 'First of all, the expansion is needed to maintain DSM's leadership position in the Chinese market. Furthermore and most importantly it demonstrates DSM's commitment to the coating resins market in the presently very turbulent times. Finally, it represents a further step towards the realization of DSM's ambition to double its total turnover in China by 2008.' DSM Eternal Resins (Kunshan) is a 50/50 joint venture of DSM Coating Resins and Eternal Chemical established in April 1997. The company is committed to supply the best resins and perfect services to the powder coatings industry. Powder coatings are growing rapidly in China as a new environment-friendly material with good economics and good performance. Established in 1964 in Kaohsiung City, Eternal has concentrated in the development and production of resins and is the leading resins manufacturer in Taiwan. In 1985, Eternal expanded into the highly specialized electronics chemical raw materials industry, producing copper clad laminates and dry film photoresist for printed circuit board (PCB) applications. Simultaneously Eternal expanded its operations geographically to include the USA, Japan, Europe, Hong Kong and mainland China.
