Husky has shipped a HyPET 500 144-cavity system that runs a 20 oz. carbonated soft drink preform at an industry-best 10.5 seconds. The system, currently running at a customer facility in the U.S., is equipped with some of Husky's new cycle-reducing technologies being showcased at NPE. "Through a combination of improved in-mold and post-mold cooling, system dry-cycle reductions and hot runner refinement, cycles are falling by up to 25% compared to a few years ago," Mike Urquhart, Husky's Vice President of PET Systems, said. "The 20 oz. CSD preform, for example, used to run over 13 seconds." HyPET molds and machines are designed to work together as a system and run the industry's fastest cycles. This systems approach also includes mold and machine features that work together to extend mold life and reduce maintenance requirements. With the most clamp and injection unit combinations available, there is a HyPET solution for any application and volume.
