Husky has upgraded the CoolPik robot on its HyPET preform systems with a new, more reliable vacuum-based preform handling system. Vacuum transfer offers a number of advantages over the previous bladder-type system, including increased reliability, reduced maintenance and simpler setup. "All systems shipping to customers as of mid-May have been equipped with the new vacuum transfer system," Mike Urquhart, Husky's Vice President of PET Systems, said. "This is an example of the continuous improvement philosophy Husky is known for in the industry. HyPET preform systems have been on the market for three years and already we've launched many upgrades to reduce cycle time, improve reliability and simplify operation. That's one of the big reasons why customers buy our systems, they know they are buying equipment that is going to get better with time, not be obsolete six months after startup." HyPET molds and machines are designed to work together as a system and run the industry's fastest cycles. This systems approach also includes mold and machine features that work together to extend mold life and reduce maintenance requirements. With the most clamp and injection unit combinations available, there is a HyPET solution for any application and volume.
