Husky introduced its new purpose-built HyPAC injection molding system at NPE. The system features several new technologies that deliver unparalleled performance and achieve the lowest part cost possible for thinwall molding. The HyPAC system has over 1000 kilowatts of controlled injection power available, 50% more than conventional technology. This performance is delivered to the mold cavities through the new purpose-built Ultra Packaging hot runner system. The UP hot runner is designed to manage injection speed, sheer and pressure, and provide temperature uniformity for even filling of demanding thinwall parts. Injection acceleration rates of more than twice the industry standard, along with optimized hot runner pressure and thermal balance provides lightweight, high-quality parts. The combined machine and hot runner will run the fastest cycle time for any cavitation thanks to plasticizing capability, process sequence optimization and hot runner control. HyPAC allows the seamless integration of third-party equipment thanks to the system's PC-based Polaris Control. HyPAC's injection speed and plasticizing capacity spans the performance of two conventional injection units-the ultimate in RS production flexibility. "The HyPAC machine represents a true paradigm shift for packaging molders," Jim Overbeeke, Husky's Business Manager for Packaging, said. "With 30% more throughput and more than twice the melt acceleration, HyPAC allows 10% lighter part weights, which can result in significant cost savings."
