NEW POWERFUL PUNCH PRESS/LASER COMBINATION CELL

| A new sheet metalworking machine that combines 30-tonnes-force hydraulic punching through a 20-station turret and 2.5 kW profiling using a Rofin-Sinar diffusion-cooled CO2 slab-laser has been introduced by Finn-Power. Designated LP6, it is available in the UK through sole agent, Press & Shear Machinery, Tamworth. |
Maximum sheet size that may be machined without repositioning has been increased to 3,000 mm (optionally 4,300 mm) x 1,500 mm and there is the option of a fourth programmable clamp for virtually 100 per cent material utilisation in automatic operation. High productivity is promoted by the use of double ballscrews to increase speed in the Y-axis, allowing 150 m/min positioning. The turret indexing system has been redesigned with separate motors for both gears, leading to greater accuracy and speeds up to 166 rpm. Sheet up to 8 mm may be punched at hit rates of up to 1,000 per minute for holes spaced 1 mm apart. Speed in marking mode is three times faster. A range of options is available including indexable upforming, integrated tapping and multi-tools to extend the number of tools in the turret to well over 100. The compact slab-laser allows easy access to the machine and has the major advantage that assist gas consumption is negligible, so an external supply is not needed. The gas cylinder integrated into the laser head lasts for approximately 12 months of continuous use. Further features include very high beam quality and a significant reduction in service requirements. The auto-focus cutting head designed by Finn-Power is based on a quick-change cassette system, allowing exchange in seconds. A Windows-based industrial PC supports machine operation, providing diagnostics and recovery instructions as well as access to electronic manuals, NC programs, tool or forming parameters and the laser manager. Work preparation is carried out while the machine is running the previous job. There is an interface for connection to Finn-Power’s teleservice or a mobile telephone messaging system to enable continuous monitoring of the cell. Machined components exit the system through a 500 mm square trap door for punched parts and via two doors, 300 x 400 mm and 800 x 800 mm, for laser-cut parts. Component separation and skeleton removal from both processes are automatic. Sheet loading and unloading as well as component sorting and stacking can also be automated and the entire cell can be linked into a Finn-Power flexible manufacturing system.
