New polyacetal based conductive and dissipative compounds

Premix Oy (published 18/11/2006)

Premix announces the addition of a full line of conductive and static dissipative compounds to the company's PRE-ELEC product portfolio. Based on copolymer polyacetal with carbon black or carbon fiber for conductive (<1x10e5 ohm) compounds and inherently dissipative polymer (IDP.s) alloys for static dissipative (1x10e8 to 1x10e11 ohm) compounds.

Premix's PRE-ELEC 12-000 compounds are based on copolymer polyacetal with the addition of carbon black or carbon fibers. Premix's PRE-ELEC ESD 12-000 compounds are alloys of copolymer polyacetal and inherently dissipative polymers. These products are colorable, and available with or without glass fiber reinforcement. These compounds exhibit excellent chemical resistance and low coefficients of friction.

Conductive POM is used for instance in the fuel system of automobiles. This is due to its good resistance against hydrocarbons. Other applications are e.g. gears and similar parts where a good wear resistance is important.
