ESD MASTERBATCH FOR EXTRUSION AND BLOW MOLDING OF PE-HD/MD
24 November 2006 - Premix Oy

Premix Oy has developed a new ESD masterbatch for extruded sheets and blow moulded bottles and canisters made out of PE-HD/MD to reach surface resistance value of even down to 2x1010Ω

Premix Oy has developed a new ESD masterbatch for extruded sheets and blow moulded bottles and canisters made out of PE-HD/MD to reach surface resistance value of even down to 2x1010Ω

PRE-ELEC ESD 2110 is the newest member of PRE-ELEC ESD product family. Surface resistance values from 2x1010 to 1x1011Ω can be reached with dosages of 8-15% in optimum processing conditions. This level of dissipation (low dissipative and low charging behaviour) is applicable in extruded and blow-moulded articles, which require a permanent 'antistatic' and dust prevention property. The major applications are blow-moulded products like IBCs (Intermediate Bulk Containers), canisters, drums, bottles and sheets. PRE-ELEC ESD 2110 is natural in colour, so the products can be coloured into bright colours.

Advantages
The major advantages of PRE-ELEC ESD 2110 are:

- Product will be used as Masterbatch -> economical raw material costs
- Suitable for co-extrusion applications
- Clean
- Antistatic behaviour is permanent and not dependent on humidity

About: Premix Oy
Premix was founded 20 years ago by Mr Antti Kiikka as a spin-off from the paint company Teknos. From a modest start as a local producer of black and white masterbatches the company has grown into one of the main masterbatch players in Scandinavia, and developed into a major European supplier of electrically conductive compounds. In fact conductive compounds have become our major business line.

Nearly 20% of Premix personnel are involved in research and development functions. This creates 7% of sales. The company has skilled personnel and a well-equipped laboratory with equipment for testing of physical and rheological properties; analytical instruments such as, DS-caloriemeter, TG-analyzer and IR-spectrometer; units for film blowing, casting, extrusion coating and injection moulding; and a pilot compounding line and a pilot line for sheet extrusion.

Premix is actively involved in many projects with universities and research institutes to complement our own development work. Through this valuable collaboration Premix always has the latest knowledge at hand.
