Q-Sense continues to expand world-wide and has now also received its first order from Hefei University of Science and Technology in main land China. The customer to use the patented QCM-D technology is located in Hefei near Shanghai and consists of a research group at the department of Polymer Science and Technology. They will work mainly with polymer interfaces including biopolymers. The university is part of one of China's twenty-seven centres for high-technology development. Goran Zelander, sales responsible at Q-Sense says "Good publications and our many reference customers are essential in the sales process, especially in regions where we do not yet have local presence. Japan, China incl. Hong-Kong, Singapore and South-Korea are promising markets where we expect a continous growth of sales". QCM-D Technology The QCM-D technique determines the mass of very thin surface bound layers and simultaneously gives information about their viscoelastic properties. This offers new opportunities to study conformational changes in layers formed on different surface materials, for example biomaterials. The unique properties of QCM-D make it an invaluable tool for studying macromolecules at surfaces and an important complement to existing technologies. Applications include biofouling, biomaterials, drug development and surfactants.
