NEW BUILDING FOR PHARMACEUTICAL RESINS MAJOR PRODUCT LINES NOW FULLY OPERATIONAL

The major production lines of the Rohm and Haas new powder resin manufacturing facility inaugurated last November are up and running.

This new building produces active pharmaceutical ingredients and excipients. Simon Bellamy, Rohm and Haas Process Chemicals; Global Marketing Manager Healthcare and Nutrition, announces: “Equipment qualification and process validation of the major product lines are complete. Rohm and Haas invested more than 4 million euros in the construction of this building. This investment will consolidate our future in this promising field and shows Rohm and Haas dedication to this key market segment.”

Twelve people are currently working in this new unit supported by seven persons from the Control and Quality Assurance departments. Jeannot Hawecker, Rohm and Haas Chauny Pharmaceutical Production Manager, stresses: « Our pharmaceutical personnel are regularly trained to US Food and Drug Administration current Good Manufacturing Practice cGMPs and to the French Bonnes Pratiques de la Fabrication.

On the whole some 40 people are working for the pharmaceutical activity on the site, assisted by its global support services such as laboratories, maintenance or regulatory recently strengthened. Christophe Tritschler, Rohm and Haas Chauny site manager underlines “Rohm and Haas Chauny site is not only the largest ion exchange resin production site worldwide, but also is the Rohm and Haas cGMP competency center.”

The construction of the new production unit, a 2 story building with a 9 meter high tower and a floor space of 659 sqm has started in 2004 and start-up took place end of September 2005.

The new pharmaceutical building has been constructed according to cGMP standards with state of the art air filtration. The design of the building minimizes the potential for product contamination.

The Rohm and Haas Chauny site new pharmaceutical facility was officially inaugurated by François Loos, Deputy Minister of Industry, in presence of various local personalities in November 2005.
