DuPont Engineering Polymers is expanding its portfolio of strong, stiff superstructural materials with new high-flow grade of DuPont Zytel HTN high-performance polyamide. The new grade, Zytel HTN53G50LRHF, is making its debut at the NPE 2006 exhibition this week. With 20 percent higher flow than comparable grades, the new grade increases opportunities for complex, thin-wall part designs and improves molding productivity. It combines 50 percent glass fiber reinforcement with a high-performance polyamide polymer having consistent stiffness, strength, toughness at varying humidity levels and at ambient to moderately elevated temperatures. Potential applications cover a wide range of components for automotive, industrial and consumer goods. Zytel HTN53G50LRHF is part of a range of highly reinforced engineering polymers with structural properties closer to those of metal than standard engineering resins. The portfolio contains materials containing up to 60 percent by weight of either standard length or long fiber reinforcement. Other base polymers, in addition to Zytel HTN, are Zytel nylon 66 and DuPont Rynite PET thermoplastic polyester.
