MAJOR STRIP MILL INVESTMENT INCREASES CAPACITY

| Sandvik Steel has commissioned a new rolling mill at its main manufacturing site in Sandviken, Sweden for the production of stainless steel strip. |
The total investment of 62 MSEK (US $ 7.5 million) in the plant called Cold Rolling Mill 02 will increase Sandvik's production capacity for hardened and tempered precision strip steel used mainly in the manufacture of flapper valves for various types of compressors, shock absorbers for the automotive industry, industrial saws and other products requiring strip to close dimensional tolerances. Installed and partly designed by Sandvik engineers, the new mill produces strip with closer and more controlled thickness tolerances.
It will enable Sandvik to maintain its position as the world's leading manufacturer of precision strip steel.
