NEW BANDSAW BLADE TIPPING MATERIAL DEVELOPED FOR SANDVIK'S MULTISHIFT
24 August 2001 - Sandvik Materials Technology UK

A new tipping material for bandsaw and framesaw blades has been developed by Kock GmbH Zerspanungstechnik, Sandvik Steel's agent for woodworking tools in Germany. It was featured at the recent Ligna 2001 exhibition.

The new tipping material is being used by Sandvik in conjunction with its Multishift™ bandsaw blades. It already has a proven track record in Germany, under the name Double Cut®, providing longer sawing times before regrinding. Up to three times longer compared to normal blade tipping methods is being claimed.

The exact composition of the tipping material is not revealed.

The blades are manufactured by Sandvik subsidiary Suomen Sandvik Oy in Finland - one of Europe's largest bandsaw manufacturing plants. Multishift bandsaw blades with Double Cut tipping have been supplied and proved in the German market for 2 years. They represent the majority of tipped blades delivered by Sandvik into Germany and are now to be introduced into other wood processing markets by Suomen Sandvik Oy.

Tipping of the bandsaw blades with the new material is available exclusively through Suomen Sandvik Oy and Kock GmbH.
