GROUP, INC. AND MIDWEST FILTRATION PARTNER TO INTRODUCE AQUAPEX(TM) POOL AND SPA FILTRATION MEDIA

Polymer Group, Inc. and Midwest Filtration Co. today announced a partnership to jointly market a new pool and spa filtration product in North America, bringing a high performance alternative media to the growing cartridge market segment.

In independent comparison testing, Aquapex(TM) provided enhanced efficiency and turbidity reduction. It also meets National Sanitation Foundation Standard 50 for pools and spas. The companies plan to expand the line to include antimicrobial fabrics.

Aquapex(TM) utilizes PGI's proprietary Apex(R) technology, which combines advanced web forming and hydroentangling techniques, along with highly developed finishing. With its superior uniformity and tightly controlled pore size, PGI's Apex(R) technology is becoming a widely-used platform in the filtration industry.

The pool and spa industry has long been looking for a product that performs and brings value as an alternative to traditional offerings," said Rick Pearce, PGI's senior director of business marketing. "We are pleased with the performance of Apex(R) technology in other filtration applications, and we are excited to be teaming up with Midwest on bringing Aquapex(TM) to the pool and spa market."

Cartridge filters are a growing segment of the market because of the convenience they offer pool and spa owners versus sand and diatomaceous earth filters. A recent study by Pool & Spa News found that 42 percent of builders nationwide rank cartridges as their number one filter preference.

Midwest Filtration Co., based in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a leading supplier of filter media, and manufactured filtration products for air and liquid applications.
