In response to demand from Asian vehicle manufacturers, the Kistler RoaDyn S625 series of 6-component measuring wheels has been extended by a new version for 12” and 13” inch rims. The measuring wheel is manufactured from high-strength aluminum construction units. Components from carbon fiber composite materials help to arrange the mass and the moments of inertia as realistic as possible. This ensures that mass effects have only a minimal impact on the driving behavior of the car and that the measuring results are not distorted. Particularly for small and lightweight cars, this is a crucial issue that constituted one of the most important development tasks. Thanks to modular design, the new measuring wheel is fully compatible with the other measuring wheels of RoaDyn System 2000. Signal detection is by means of replaceable 3-component strain gauge load cells, which are calibrated separately to ensure optimum serviceability. The intelligent TEDS functionality helps to prevent operating failures and maximizes ease of operation. The measuring wheel is controlled by Kistler System 2000, the onboard electronics acquiring the data by digital telemetric transmission. The measuring system architecture is optimized for use with cars and endurance test stands. The result is a robust system that cuts no corners and can be used under the toughest conditions. Various analog and digital interfaces are also available to permit easy networking with other systems. The modular design further permits the system components to be used for higher wheel loads on SUVs or light commercial vehicles. Whoever the user, the RoaDyn S625 represents a good safe investment for the future.

About: Kistler Instruments
Kistler is one of the world's leading suppliers of measurement technology. Kistler pressure sensors, force sensors and accelerometers use the piezoelectric effect for precise measurement of mechanical properties. Kistler is a privately-owned Swiss company which develops and manufactures sensors and electronics for measuring pressure, force and acceleration. Additionally, the functionality of electronics plays an increasing role when defining a measuring system and even more frequently, electronics in fact becomes part of the sensor itself. Most of Kistler's products have been developed in close cooperation between leading universities or research facilities and Kistler's engineers. Investments in Kistler's research department have led to the development of new crystals which enable reliable measurements to be taken under the most extreme environmental conditions. The results of our in-depth crystal research will give us a leading edge in advancing the state-of-the-art. |
