SANDVIK DEVELOPS SHARPER CUTTING RULE
14 November 2000 - Sandvik Materials Technology UK

A new diecutting rule for the packaging industry has been developed and is now available from Swedish Steelmaker AB Sandvik Steel.

Produced particularly for packaging applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries, the new cutting rule, designated Dieflex G12, has a fine ground cutting edge to give greater edge sharpness. It offers an improved cutting ability for foils, coated and varnished cardboard and corrugated board, plastics, polyester and similar materials which are normally difficult to cut.

When assembled in a die cutting forme, the sharper cutting edge of Dieflex G12 penetrates the substrate more easily and because less cutting pressure is required, extends the life of the die. A key advantage in the food and pharmaceutical packaging industries, where clean and controlled environments are necessary, is cleaner cutting. The improved rule sharpness produces dust free cutting.

For the benefit of diemakers, the smoother edge bevel of Dieflex G12 further improves the bendability of the ground edge. This finer edge finish also gives close control of the rule height tolerances.

Dieflex G12 can be produced in centre and facet bevel configurations of 2pt and 3pt thicknesses.
