NEW TECHNICAL BROCHURE FOR MEDICAL STEELS
The Bioline range of stainless implant steels includes all product forms required to produce permanent orthopaedic implants, fracture management systems and coronary stents. The broader Bioline range also includes stainless steel strip, wire and tubular products for the manufacture of surgical tools and medical devices. The new 8 page brochure describes how the Bioline branding is more than a range of products since it involves stockholding, worldwide distribution and full technical support. The customer service and technical centre for the marketing of Sandvik Bioline is located at Sandvik Metinox in Sheffield. A purpose built warehouse and offices were opened in 1997 to house a comprehensive stock of stainless steel, bars, profiles, special shapes, tubes and strip. Mill manufactured items are supplied from Sandvik Steel's mills around the world giving total control of production and quality from steel melt to finished product. There are two stainless Bioline steel grades used in the manufacture of temporary and permanent implants - Sandvik Bioline 316LVM (ISO 5832-1) and Sandvik Bioline High-N (ISO 5832-9). Both are molybdenum alloyed stainless steels which meet the requirements of all existing standards for medical and implant materials. The brochure provides full technical details of chemical composition, mechanical and physical properties, describes the corrosion resistance for each grade and defines the high level of cleanliness present in both steels with a table of the maximum content for a range of specified inclusions.
